The View From My Beer

Gold Coast
At this time Gold Coast (Tweed Heads) is the place I call home during my travels. It gets complicated at times when people on my travels where I am from. Sometimes I will say Melbourne because that is where I lived for a long time and where I plan to return. Sometimes I will say the Gold Coast because that is where I base myself in Australia until I am ready to settle down. The one answer i never give is the USA or California. I feel I have moved away from there and I definitely do not identify at all with the direction that country has taken, especially in 2025.
My Walk
Kirra Beach

While other options do exist, I continue to take the same walk each day while I am home. Its such a nice walk along the foreshore and then the final climb up to Point Danger.

I don’t do this every day, but I will often stop by one of the local bakers on the way back home to grab an apple turnover. These things are just amazing.
Train, Train, Bus, Train
I took the train from the Gold Coast to Brisbane Airport where i was going to catch up with my sister, Jenny. We had planned to fly together to Los Angeles. She flew in from Perth earlier today and we had arranged to meet up at the airport. Its normally a two-hour trip, but it is convenient in that the train goes all the way to the airport so there is no need to make transfers. Well, except for today…
It turned out they were doing some work on the tracls, which caused disruptions to the train services in the area. Instead of the one train, The Gold Coast Train on took us as far as Coomera. Then another train dropped us of closer in to Brisbane where we then had to catch a bus between several inner Brisbane stations before we could then back onto another train that offered a service to Brisbane Airport. It took me over 3.5 hours to make the trip. Fortunately I made it in time for my flight, but there was only just enough time for a quick beer in the Qantas Lounge before it was time for us to board the overnight flight to Los Angeles.
