The View From My Beer
No beer today. I was doing the driving and needed to be a responsible husband/dog owner.
Carbon Canyon
Today Michelle, Bailey and I made our first ever visit to Carbon Canyon. It is a a 124 acre Regional Park located in the North of Orange County near the city of Brea. I have lived in Southern California for 19 years and never found the time to visit Carbon Canyon. It was a short 30-minute drive from our home.
Our Walk
Today’s walk was a circuit around the park. After we parked the car, we passed around the lake before heading down a trail that took us past a dam to the redwood forrest. On our return we found a nice spot to sit and enjoy the views for a while, allow Bailey to fantasize about catching a goose and me to fantasize about that beer I didn’t have.
The Lake

One feature of the park was the lake. As could be expected, Bailey was fascinated by the geese. They seem unperturbed by Bailey’s presence and would often get out of the water to sun-bake near where we were standing or seated.
Redwood Forest

Our walk took us to a Redwood Forest, the only one located in Orange County. There is something calming about standing under these trees, a feature of previous visit to Muir Woods and Sequoia National Park. I could sit and unwind for hours if only I had a wife and a dog willing to do likewise.
Oil Drilling

The hills above the park had several operating oil wells. These are a common site around Southern California.
The LA Riots

I couldn’t let this pass without comment. Today I was getting enquiries from family and friends to see if I was OK after they had read/watched reports of major rioting in Los Angeles. This was all a huge distortion. Maybe in the mind of Trump and his supporters, the radical left were raising up against his government and burning LA to the ground. Here in the real world we call planet earth, we are living and enjoying our lives in peace and tranquility. We are all just pawns in a much larger game to change the way the US is ruled. It doesn’t mean I am not concerned. I am. But not about rioters, I am more concerned about the government and what it might do after it turns its attention from brown people to anyone else that doesn’t agree with its agenda.
