The View From My Beer
A half litre of Isbjørn Pilsner (brewed in the world’s Northern-most brewery, Macks in Tromsø) looking out a window at the Sjogata pub in Honningsvåg (Europe’s Northern-most town). I guess things can only go South from here, right?
Honningsvåg
With a population of 5,000, Honningsvåg is considered to be the Northern most city in continental Europe. It is 33 km from North Cape, the northernmost point in Europe that can be reached by car. Both Honningsvåg and North Cape lie on the island of Magerøya, joined to the mainland of Norway via a road tunnel.

My Walk

We used a a water taxi today, disembarking in the central area of Honningsvåg. After a walk through the downtown area I headed up to a lookout over the city. I enjoyed the view from the lookout for an hour before returning to visit a pub I found on my walk through town. The total journey was 4km.

North Cape

North Cape lies 33km to the North of Honningsvåg. This is the northernmost point in Europe able to be reach by car, lying at the end of the E69 highway. North Cape was easy to see from our cruise ship as it towers 307 metres above the sea.
