The View From My Beer
My view today was of from the Three Judges pub in the charming West End of Glasgow. It is a pint of Merlin’s Ale. I resisted the urge to have a Tenants Lager and try an ale instead. It was a rather spacious pub with a few locals sharing a few pints. The bar itself was one of the classic British pubs with lots of beer regalia decorating the bar.
Glasgow

Stop number six on my 14-day cruise around Britain. Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city, with a population of 630,000. It is located on the River Clyde in west central Scotland.
My Walk
Train Trip to Glasgow
Today, our cruise ship docked docked in the port of Greenock, about 30 minutes by train from Glasgow. I had decided to focus my time on Glasgow. My online searches had identified quite few interesting buildings I wanted to see up close. It was a 10-minute walk to the train station and there were a few interesting things to see.

Central Glasgow

The Glasgow station was both large and interesting. After exiting the station I took in some of the sites before pulling out my iPhone and planning a route.
River Clyde

When I research a destination I save photos of the places I want to visit and then I geocode each one so I know where to find them. When I looked at my research photos on a map, the majority were located on a route that would take me along the River Clyde.
The West End

After looking at the remaining research photos, I plotted a course that would take me through the West End of Glasgow to the Botanical Gardens and then into Central Glasgow.
Botanical Gardens

Plants are not a huge attraction for me, but I find botanical gardens are often very interesting to visit. I didn’t have a lot of time to spend in the Botanical Gardens as I needed to walk back into town to catach a train before 4:30 PM. Based on what I saw, I feel it would be worth coming back and taking a closer look. The glasshouses were huge and provided some awesome display of pants.
Central Glasgow

I decided I had just enough time to visit one site in Central Glasgow (Glasgow Museum of Modern Art) before I would need to be on a train before 16:30 while my off-peak ticket still worked.
Greenock

I arrived back in Greenock with over an hour to spare before I needed to be back onboard. While I was pretty tired after clocking 25,000 steps and 20km I decided to take a small diversion into the town.
