The View From My Beer
The best view available today was from the Bournemouth Pier during a live simulcast on the pier by local radio station Hot Radio. Unfortunately they had no English beers on tap, so I decided to try a pint of Estrella Damm.
Bournemouth

Coastal city in the county of Dorset with a population of 200,000. It is well known for its seven-mile stretch of golden sand, which includes a pier. A regular train service from London Waterloo to Bournemouth passes through Southampton, making it an easy destination to get to as part of a cruise.
My Walk

After getting off the train, I decided to head towards the East Cliff area and then walk along the coastline towards the Bournemouth Pier. As it turned out, by the time I had done that, gotten some fish and chips and a cold beer, it wqs time to head back to the station as we needed to be back on the ship by 3PM for the next cruise.
Bournemouth Coast

Bournemouth had been the site of an annual air show up until 2025. In 2011 A member of the Red Arrows died in a crash after performing at the Bournemouth Air Show. During my walk I passed a statue dedicated to Flight Lieutenant Jon Egging.

I was fascinated by the colorful beach huts along the beach. They reminded me of a paint chart, grouped together based on color. Closer to the pier there was another set of huts decorated in red, white, and blue.
Bournemouth Pier

A Victorian pier that includes restaurants, an amusement arcade, zip-line to the beach and a restaurant/bar. During my visit, local radio station Hot Radio was doing a simulcast from the pier just a few metres from where I was enjoying my beer.
Harry Ramsdens

Bournemouth is also home to the world’s largest fish and chip shop – Harry Ramsdens, with seating for 420 guests. Operating since 1928, they currently have eight stores across England, with Bournmeouth being the largest. They still cook their fish and chips using beef dripping. They even had a store in the Melbourne suburb of East Burwood, which was where I lived during my time as a student at Monash University.
